The Sacramento Kings sent a message to Dennis Schroder after they acquired him from the Detroit Pistons during the offseason.

The Sacramento Kings entered the offseason looking to upgrade their roster ahead of next season and bounce back after another disappointing season last year ended with them missing the playoffs once again.
One of the main areas of need for the Kings entering the summer was the point guard position, which they struggled with in the second half of last season after trading De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs.
After dealing Fox, Sacramento used both Keon Ellis and Malik Monk as their starting point guard and while both played well in their new role, it was clear that the Kings were in desperate need of a true point guard.
Because of this, the Kings entered free agency targeting two veteran guards in Dennis Schroder and Russell Westbrook, eventually agreeing to a deal to sign Schroder.
On Monday, it was announced that the Kings had worked out a sign-and-trade deal with the Detroit Pistons for Schroder that included them sending a 2026 second-round pick to Detroit for Schroder and a 2029 second-round pick.
After the deal was made official, the Kings took to social media to welcome their new point guard to Sacramento.
“Welcome to the 916, @DS17_FG,” the Kings posted on X on Monday.

For Schroder, he will likely enter next season as the Kings’ new starting point guard and he should be a valuable addition to the team.
Last season, the 31-year-old guard played for the Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors and Pistons as he averaged 13.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game while shooting 40.6% from the field and 34.2% from three-point range.
Schroder will give Sacramento another great scorer in their starting lineup but more importantly, he will give them a much-needed playmaker next to Domantas Sabonis, DeMar DeRozan, Keegan Murray and Zach LaVine.
With this addition, the Kings hope that Schroder can help them turn things around after another disappointing season as they try to make the playoffs next season.
