It's all but certain that the Philadelphia Phillies will make a deadline splash. It remains uncertain whether that'll be in the bullpen, outfield, or elsewhere.

Hopefully, the Phillies will address their needs in multiple ways, as they could use an outfielder and some bullpen help.

In a recent trade idea from Fish on First, the Phillies would accomplish just that in a deal with the Miami Marlins.

The prized possession of the Marlins at the deadline will be Sandy Alcantara, but they have some under-the-radar guys who can throw the baseball at a decent level out of the bullpen, including Anthony Bender and Calvin Faucher.

The recent trade idea would send Mick Abel to the Marlins for both relievers.

“The Phillies currently rank 24th in bullpen ERA and they already know veteran lefty José Alvarado will be ineligible for the postseason due to a PED suspension. They could use the services of multiple high-leverage arms. Through 38 appearances, Anthony Bender has posted a 2.13 ERA, 4.06 FIP, 6.6 K/9 and 3.8 BB/9. As for Calvin Faucher, he's posted a 4.18 ERA, 3.71 FIP, 8.4 K/9 and 4.2 BB/9 through 36 appearances,” they wrote.

Abel was recently sent to Triple-A, a decision that didn't come as much of a surprise.

The young right-hander had thrown the baseball at a high level for parts of his early career, but he allowed nine earned runs in 17.1 innings in June and gave up five earned runs against the San Diego Padres on July 2.

It didn't exactly go as planned for him over the past month and a half, so letting him go down and regain his trade value is likely better for the Phillies.
