The Los Angeles Lakers welcomed Luka Doncic last season, seemingly setting themselves up for a successful future.

Los Angeles traded for Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks in a deal that involved sending Anthony Davis and Max Christie.

Doncic helped lead the Lakers to the No. 3 seed in the standings with a first-round matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

They eventually lost to Minnesota, and Los Angeles went back to the drawing board, with Doncic and LeBron James seen as the cornerstones of the franchise.

Before playing for one of the most well-known teams in basketball, Doncic was a part of the Real Madrid basketball club.

He played for Real Madrid from 2015 to 2018, having been coached by Pablo Laso.

Unfortunately for Laso, a recent report revealed that he had lost his job. Laso was coaching Baskonia, having been with the team since 2024.

Laso also had previous ties with Bayern Munich, Gipuzkoa, Pamesa Valencia and others in the EuroBasket stage.

Before his coaching career, he also spent time on the international stage as a player, helping lead Real Madrid to the FIBA Saporta Cup in 1997.

Luka Doncic is now preparing for his second season, his first full season with the Los Angeles Lakers. Last season, Doncic posted 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game.

Lakers head coach JJ Redick will also be entering his second season in Los Angeles after beginning his coaching career last season with LeBron James and Doncic.
