The Indiana Fever reside at 17-14 so far this season, good for fifth place in the WNBA's Eastern Conference but far from the pace fans hoped for at the start of the 2025 season. The Indiana Fever reside at 17-14 so far this season, good for fifth place in the WNBA's Eastern Conference but far from the pace fans hoped for at the start of the 2025 season.
On Friday, the Fever's current fortunes went from okay to worse as it was announced that two key rotation players will miss the remainder of the season after injuries suffered during Thursday's game against the Phoenix Mercury in Arizona.
"Sydney Colson (left ACL tear) and Aari McDonald (broken bone in right foot) will both miss the remainder of the season after suffering injuries during our game in Phoenix on Thursday," the Fever's X account wrote Friday.
Thursday's game was a 95-60 blowout loss that did not include any minutes of game action from Clark, the Fever superstar who suffered a torn right groin injury in the middle of last month.
The Fever must now move on without McDonald, who has played 26.3 minutes per game and averaged 9.8 points per game, and Colson, who has played 13.5 minutes per game and averaged 2.4 points per game so far this season.
McDonald scored four points in 24 minutes against the Mercury and Colson scored one point in one minute.
The Fever are one of the WNBA's deepest teams with nine players currently averaging double digit minutes, but Clark's absence is not helping matters.
Sophie Cunningham and other Fever players have fought valiantly, with Cunningham making headlines for her Brittany Griner message on Friday. The Fever have come under fire from media and fans after their lackluster Thursday performance.
Next, Indiana is scheduled to take on Angel Reese's Chicago Sky in a marquee game tomorrow at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, a game that could become an easy Sky win if coach Stephanie White's team isn't ready to shake off the emotions of their recent losses and play its best basketball again.
