Well this could've been done better by the umpire.
It must've been Matt Chapman's birthday on Monday night.
The San Francisco Giants' third baseman was given three gifts by the home plate umpire in the same at bat.
Chapman fell behind 0-2, and then he looked at three pitches that were all in the strike zone. Any one of them could've struck him out on pinpoint deliveries from Phillies reliever Orion Kerkering.
All three were called balls. And after a foul ball, Chapman lined a single through the right side.

That's brutal.
It's as if the umpire just totally forgot where the strike zone was meant to be for a minute.
The Phillies definitely weren't happy about it.
But Chapman will take it. All that shows up in the book is a base hit, not any of the controversy that came before it.
