An MLB executive predicts the Los Angeles Dodgers will land a Philadelphia Phillies ace in a potential blockbuster trade to strengthen their rotation.

It's tough to look too far ahead for the Los Angeles Dodgers, especially given that this team has a great chance to go back-to-back.
The Dodgers are arguably the best team in baseball again, and despite playing poorly over the weekend against the Houston Astros, that doesn't change anything.
Things should go as planned as long as the Dodgers get healthy heading into the postseason.
However, whether the Dodgers do or don't win a World Series likely won't change their offseason plans too much.
All the Dodgers have shown in recent years is that they're willing to spend money, and there so happens to be another left-handed star pitcher ready to be a free agent in Ranger Suarez of the Philadelphia Phillies.
When looking at what team he could sign with, an anonymous executive told Jayson Stark of The Athletic that the Dodgers could be the team.
"It's perfect," the executive said, according to Stark. "He'll sign with the Dodgers."
"With Suarez, the often-brilliant but often-injured 29-year-old left-hander for the Phillies, the rest of the sport looked at his incredible first half in 2024 and said: Let's see him do that again," Stark added. "He's sitting on a 1.99 ERA with one start left before the All-Star break. So they've seen it!"
The executive might’ve been joking a bit with this remark, but it's also not much of a joke, either.
Suarez would be a great addition for the Dodgers and likely wouldn't be as expensive as some of the other top arms they've signed in recent years. The left-hander has a 1.99 ERA and arguably the second most important piece in the Phillies’ rotation outside of Zack Wheeler.
