Sometimes, words aren’t needed. Just a sharp pair of sneakers and perfect timing. That’s exactly how WNBA sharpshooter Sophie Cunningham chose to make her statement this week.
On July 7, Cunningham took to social media and dropped two action shots of herself on the hardwood. The highlight? She rocked the fresh adidas Dame X “Dolla Red” kicks. Her caption is simple: “Dame X ‘Dolla Red.’” Short, sharp, and to the point, the message behind her post conveyed a powerful message.
Just five days earlier, Damian Lillard himself shook the sneaker world. On July 2, the Milwaukee Bucks star announced on X that his tenth signature shoe, the Dame 10, would break the mold. “Getting to 10 signature models means a lot,” Lillard wrote, “but I wanted to use this 10th shoe to make a real statement and bring the price down under $100.” True to his word, adidas launched the Dame X on July 3 for $90 in adult sizes and $70 for kids.
This wasn’t just another flashy sneaker drop. It was a clear push for making performance shoes more accessible. And Cunningham’s post wasn’t just a casual flex.
To kick off the launch, Adidas dropped a lighthearted new commercial. Cunningham and Las Vegas Aces guard Chelsea Gray both made appearances. Gray, a longtime wearer of Lillard's signature shoes, continues to be a main supporter of the Dame line in the WNBA.

The Adidas Dame X hit stores in five colorways: Dame's Light, Brookfield, Dolla Red, Zero Metallic and Kids Star. Built for performance, the shoes feature a Lightstrike midsole for comfort and quick response.
A stretch-woven upper lets players move freely, while a multi-directional traction pattern on the rubber outsole keeps their grip strong in every cut and drive.
