The Los Angeles Lakers' 6-foot-2 guard recently completed his first 2025 summer league contest with the organization
Bronny James finally made his highly anticipated 2025 NBA summer league debut after sitting out during the organization’s Saturday night contest against the Golden State Warriors.
While James’ performance in the summer league won’t necessarily signal what’s to come in Year 2, it’s still pivotal to focus on the USC product’s strengths and weaknesses on the hardwood.
Against the Miami Heat, James wasn’t the Lakers’ most productive contributor, as Cole Swider and DJ Steward led the way with 20 and 14 points, respectively.
However, in 11 minutes of action, the 20-year-old showcased the skills that were flashed during his rookie season. James’ activity on the defensive end and commitment to playing non-reckless basketball helped the Lakers secure a stress-free 103-83 victory over the Heat.
James recorded 10 points, two rebounds, and one steal in the contest, shooting 42.8% from the field and 40% from three.
More importantly, James didn’t commit a single turnover on the hardwood and was a +4 contributor for Los Angeles as a starter.

James and the Lakers will face the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday in the final game of the California Classic before participating in the NBA 2K26 summer league in Las Vegas.
If the 6-foot-2 guard continues to contribute on both ends of the floor, it’s challenging to envision him not turning heads this summer.
