Yankees Fans Livid After Bombshell Jazz Chisholm Jr. Announcement

Things just keep getting worse for the Yankees.

In the case of “when it rains, it pours,” the New York Yankees have graduated to a torrential downpour.

As the Yankees try to end a six-game losing streak on Sunday afternoon, they’ll be without star third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. against the crosstown Mets. Chisholm is out of the lineup as he battles a shoulder injury; Oswald Peraza instead drew the start at third base and will hit ninth.

Chisholm said the injury affects his throwing more than it does his hitting. It is unclear if the 27-year-old will need an IL stint before the All-Star Break.

Chisholm has been one of the Yankees’ few bright spots during a time when seemingly nothing is going right. Since returning from the IL on June 3, Chisholm—who moved from second base to third after Oswaldo Cabrera’s ankle injury—owns a .308 average and .969 OPS. He’s recorded eight homers, six doubles, and 21 RBIs for the free-falling Yankees.

Neither Chisholm nor manager Aaron Boone had disclosed the injury before Sunday morning, and an already frustrated fan base erupted on social media.

“It makes total sense to rest one of your hottest hitters in the midst of a six-game losing streak,” wrote one X user.

Added another: “Maybe his shoulder wouldn’t be barking so much if he was at his natural position at second.”

Several social media users specifically took issue with Boone resting Chisholm before Monday’s off day.

Read one post: “What a joke, they run this team like they are allergic to winning. Complete garbage.”

“Benching your best lefty hitters against a righty because they don’t feel good is really perfect summation of the country club, no urgency, Boone Ball dumpster fire,” another user vented.
