The Chicago White Sox overcame tremendous odds to win the World Seires in 2005, led by a personable and dominant team that included mercurial manager Ozzie Guillen and standout closer Bobby Jenks among others.

Guillen's White Sox defeated the Houston Astros 1-0 on October 26, 2005, giving the team its first World Series title in nearly a century (1917).

Recently, the franchise announced that 2005 closer Bobby Jenks passed away in Portugal, roughly five months after he announced he had been battling stage 4 adenocarcinoma, a type of stomach cancer.

One day later, the latest gesture from the White Sox to their legendary, late closer was revealed, featuring kind words from Guillen and other 2005 franchise legends.

"Bobby Jenks began the 2005 World Series with a save and ended it with one, helping propel the @whitesox to their first title in 88 years," ESPN wrote.

"The team paid tribute with a moving video remembrance of Jenks, who died Friday at 44."

"I mean Bobby was kind of ahead of his time, there's a lot of guys now that throw like Bobby but like when he first came up, I'm not sure there was anybody that looked like him from like a stuff standpoint, where he was, you know, hitting 100 (miles per hour) on every single pitch," former White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko said of the impact Jenks had in the Majors with Chicago.

Jenks once tied an MLB record, retiring 41 batters in a row, which was eventually surpassed by Yusmeiro Petit of the San Francisco Giants with 46.

"So young. Praying for his family," one fan said.

"Bless his soul," another added.
