The Indiana Fever looked like they were well on their way to securing their fourth straight win on Saturday night. It just wasn't to be, though, as the Fever gave up a six-point lead in the fourth quarter to the Los Angeles Sparks, who powered through to secure a crucial road win, 89-87.

Aliyah Boston (23 points, 12 rebounds) and Natasha Howard (21 points, nine rebounds) did all they could for the Fever in this one, but their combined effort still fell short against a determined Sparks side.

Shortly after the final buzzer, the Fever took to social media to issue a six-word statement on the loss.

"another chance at home on Wednesday," the team posted on X.

Based on this post, it appears that Indiana is determined to put this deflating loss behind them as quickly as possible. They have now set their sights on their next game, which comes in the form of another home matchup against the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday.

In the last meeting between these two teams, it was the Valkyries who secured an 88-77 win at Chase Center, so the Fever will want to get some revenge now that they're playing hosts.

A recent statement from former WNBA coach and ESPN analyst Carolyn Peck generated online buzz after she said that the Fever are "more dangerous" without Clark. This statement came amid Indiana's recent three-game winning streak, which included their WNBA Commissioner's Cup championship win on Tuesday against the Minnesota Lynx.

There's no denying, however, that Indiana would have benefitted from Clark's leadership and clutch play down the stretch on Saturday against L.A., which is precisely what was on the minds of more than a few supporters.

"They need Caitlin. They are good, yes, but they just played the Sparks for the second time in 9 days & lost AGAIN. The offense looked shaky," a comment on X read.

"Are the haters still going to say the Fever are better without Caitlin? 🤔" asked another.

"Let’s hope Caitlin Clark @CaitlinClark22 is back running the show, because that was horrible offense in the end…." declared a fan.

"Someone check on Carolyn for the BS (expletive) narrative," a reaction read.

"@CAROLYNPECK said they would’ve lost by 20 with Clark," another said.

"Cc please come back we need you!!" a user posted.

The big question now is whether Clark will be able to suit up for that matchup. The Fever continue to list her day-to-day, which means that there is a chance that she will be able to return to action sooner rather than later.

At the same time, however, the team has already indicated that they're more focused on the bigger picture, suggesting that they won't force their cornerstone superstar back into action unless she's 100% healthy.
