Dearica Hamby did not hold back.
Former All-Star Slams WNBA Announcement for 'Crazy' Snub originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Although the WNBA is loaded with talented players, the league's All-Star game only has 22 roster spots available.
So, when the WNBA announced the 12 reserves for this year's All-Star game on Sunday, it was to be expected that some deserving players would be on the outside looking in.
However, just because we know that someone is bound to be snubbed doesn't make it any less surprising. While fans are often the most outspoken about who was snubbed, Los Angeles Sparks forward and three-time All-Star Dearica Hamby was so shocked by one player being left off that she didn't even seem bothered by not receiving the nod herself.
After a fan posted their top-five list of players who were snubbed, Hamby responded and made it clear that she felt bad for Washington Mystics guard Brittney Sykes. While Sykes has earned multiple All-WNBA Defensive Team nods, she has never been a WNBA All-Star.
This year seemed to be her year, but instead the coaches selected Mystics rookies Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron.
"Whatever about me…. But taking 2, and NOT including the best player from a below 500 team is crazy," wrote Hamby.

Sykes certainly had a strong case, considering she leads the Mystics in points per game (17.9) and assists per game (4.6), while being tied for the team lead for steals per game (1.1).
Unfortunately for Sykes, the WNBA coaches seemed to feel that Iriafen and Citron were making a greater impact than she was.
As for Hamby, she was left off despite averaging 17.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
With the game taking place on July 19, there may be an opportunity for someone who was left off to get a chance if another player is unable to participate. Until then, players like Hamby and Sykes will have some extra time off.
