Annor Boateng injury update. Missouri basketball SF out for season

Missouri basketball small forward Annor Boateng has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. Here's what we know.

Missouri men’s basketball small forward Annor Boateng has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2025-26 season after undergoing successful surgery on his left leg Monday, per an announcement from the team on Wednesday, Feb. 4.

It’s immediately unclear what specific injury Boateng sustained and when he will be able to return to practice.

The sophomore injured his leg while he was driving downhill toward the rim during the second half of MU’s win over Mississippi State on Saturday at Mizzou Arena, slipping as he went up for a dunk. Boateng hit the Mizzou Arena court hard and remained on the ground for multiple minutes.

Mizzou coach Dennis Gates and several Missouri staffers almost immediately ran onto the court to check on Boateng as play briefly continued.

Boateng had to be carted off the floor and in an air cast. He was given a standing ovation from the Missouri crowd and made a heart shape with his hands to the crowd as he was stretchered off the floor.

The team has not provided a specific injury diagnosis or a timeline for return beyond this season. If the injury is as severe as an ACL tear, it is possible that he could miss some of the beginning of next season. If it was a dislocation, then he likely won't miss any time beyond this campaign.

Boateng is not eligible for a medical hardship waiver because he has appeared in more than one-third of Mizzou’s games this season.

The Little Rock, Arkansas, native had averaged 2.7 points and 1.8 rebounds per game in mostly a reserve capacity this season. He had shown flashes in recent games as a strong defensive option for Mizzou, averaging 11.6 minutes per contest this year.

The news that Boateng’s year was finished was widely expected. In his postgame press conference Saturday, Gates said he wished Boateng a speedy recovery and said that “nine times out of 10” that type of injury was season-ending.
