Casemiro shares message with Manchester United supporters ahead of his departure

Casemiro has sent a message to Manchester United supporters as he prepares to leave the club, two years after arriving from Real Madrid.

The 33-year-old moved to Old Trafford in 2022, joining in a £60m deal that included potential add-ons. The Brazilian midfielder was initially seen as an important addition for Erik ten Hag’s side.

In his first season under Ten Hag, Casemiro made a strong impression. He provided stability in midfield and quickly became a regular starter for the team.

But over time, Casemiro’s form dipped even though he stayed involved with the first team. Still, he remained an experienced option throughout his spell at Old Trafford.

Despite the changes at Manchester United and the arrival of new manager Ruben Amorim, Casemiro found consistency again and contributed positively to the squad last season.

Manchester United have confirmed that Casemiro will be leaving at the end of the 2025-26 season, with the club choosing not to activate his one-year contract extension.

The Brazilian midfielder was already into the final six months of his deal as of January and has previously been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

Now eligible to negotiate with clubs outside England, the former Los Blancos midfielder can sign a pre-contract agreement ahead of his summer departure.

Speaking to Manchester United’s official website, Casemiro said one thing he’ll always remember fondly is the song and chant created for him by United fans during his time at Old Trafford.

“It isn’t a goodbye, it is just a chapter in my life, I will always be with Manchester United,” he said. “Thank you, thank you everyone that made this time in my life so special, especially the fans. I will never forget my song! Thank you very much.”

Man Utd fans had a chant for Casemiro before he’d even played

Manchester United fans didn’t wait for Casemiro to make his debut before coming up with a song for him. The midfielder’s reputation as a five-time Champions League winner made an instant impression on the fanbase.

One of the chants that caught on during the 2022-23 season was set to Status Quo’s ‘Rockin’ All Over The World.’

The song’s lyrics stayed mostly intact, but fans swapped out the final line and replaced it with: “Here we go, Bruno and Casemiro.”

Over time, this evolved into an even more streamlined version: just his name repeated over a simple “de de de de” rhythm that became familiar around Old Trafford.
