Arsenal are still looking to bring in a new striker as part of their long-term planning, and the latest name linked with a move already has Thierry Henry’s backing. While Viktor Gyokeres is still very much involved, there’s a sense growing that Arsenal might use the summer window to bring in a more high-profile addition to lead the line.

There have been talks over a possible move for Julian Alvarez as he considers his next step, having already impressed during his spell at Manchester City before heading to Atletico Madrid.
Fans will remember how Alvarez made an impact at City but chose to leave when it became clear he wouldn’t get regular minutes ahead of Erling Haaland.
Thierry Henry makes his thoughts on Julian Alvarez clear
Pep Guardiola was disappointed to see Alvarez leave but understood that the striker needed regular minutes that just weren’t available at Manchester City.
Since then, Alvarez has established himself as a consistent starter for Atletico Madrid and the Argentinian national team. He’s been praised for both his determination and technical ability.
That praise even came from Thierry Henry, who spoke highly of him in an interview with CBS Sports last year.
“I will be honest with you. One of my favourite nines out there at the minute is Julian Alvarez,” Henry said back in May of last year.
“We’ve been talking about it. Putting pressure, playing alone, low, whatever you want to do. Did you see the free-kick he scored the other day? He can hold the ball long.”
The work rate and versatility Henry refers to have always been part of what makes Alvarez stand out, making him a reliable option wherever he plays.
How Julian Alvarez has fared since leaving Manchester City
There are plenty of players who leave City and go on to have successful careers elsewhere.
Alvarez is one of those, having thrived under Diego Simeone at Atletico.
Since his move, he’s scored 40 goals in 85 appearances. That’s just under a goal every two games.
He also rarely misses a game. He played 49 and 54 times in his final two seasons at City, then featured in 57 games for Atletico last season, and he’s already played 28 times this year.
In terms of durability, quality, and Premier League experience, Arsenal would be hard-pressed to find anyone better suited than Alvarez.
