Former Villanova and Abington star Eric Dixon is nursing a foot injury but is expected to sign a 2-way contract with the Lakers after he went undrafted
Eric Dixon was an outstanding basketball player for Abington High School.
Throughout high school, Dixon was a powerhouse forward/center and helped the Ghosts capture the 2016 and 2017 Suburban One League National Conference titles, 2017 Suburban One League Tournament championship, and the 2017 PIAA District One crown.
Dixon was named the Pennsylvania State Player of the Year by USA Today in 2018, and also was the first 2,000-point scorer in Abington history. He finished his high school career ranked in the top 75 by ESPN for the Class of 2019 and was a four-star recruit.
After a superb career at Villanova, Dixon is expected to sign a two-way deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, allowing him to split time with the Lakers and their G-League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers.
Unfortunately for Dixon, he is unable to showcase his talents in the Summer League due to a foot injury that will sideline him for the duration of the summer schedule. He's been seen with the Lakers in a boot but is yet to "officially' ink the two-way contract, Sports Illustrated reports.
Dixon attended Villanova from 2019-2025, becoming the all-time leading scorer for the Wildcats at 2,314 points. Dixon also led Division I basketball in points scored during the 2024-2025 season with 815, while averaging 23.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
While at Villanova, Dixon earned third-team All-American honors from the Associated Press and United States Basketball Writers Association in 2024-25, among numerous other accolades.
Dixon, 24, wasn't selected in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Dixon is 6-foot-8 and weighs 260 pounds and isn’t afraid to use his size down low against forwards and centers who may have a height and athletic advantage over him. He could be a good fit for the Lakers because he can score in pick-and-pop situations either in the midrange or from the 3-point line.
Dixon shot 40.7 percent on seven 3-point attempts per game last season. His ability to work in the low or mid-post, convert from the free throw line, along with his patience, footwork, and touch around the rim, should help him in Los Angeles.
