The Bulls and Josh Giddey are $10 million apart in contentious contract talks

This doesn't seem ideal.

The Chicago Bulls and Josh Giddey are a long way apart.

Giddey has been seeking $30 million per year in a new contract, a figure that has been known for quite some time.

The Bulls only want to pay Giddey $20 million per year, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer.

In a deal that could be for four years, that's a massive difference.

And compromise is hard.

“Giddey's representation has not wavered in its pursuit of a $30 million annual salary, sources say, while the Bulls' offers have been much closer to $20 million," Fischer writes. "Giddey has been in Las Vegas since Summer League play began but did not make appearances at either of Chicago’s first two Summer League games.”

Giddey is in a tough spot, because as a restricted free agent, he doesn't have a ton of power in the situation unless another team extends him an offer sheet.

Given the limited salary cap space around the league, it doesn't appear Giddey has received any outside offer sheets.

The Bulls probably don't have to budge for a while, but the longer this goes on, the more uncomfortable it'll get for everyone involved.
