The Indiana Fever defeated the Dallas Wings 103-82 on Sunday at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Indiana All-Star guard Caitlin Clark got off to a quick start by scoring seven points with 6:34 left in the first quarter. Following a scoreless second quarter, she put up another seven points in the second half to end with 14 points alongside 13 assists.
Meanwhile, her teammate Kelsey Mitchell led the team in scoring with 20 points. She also snagged four rebounds and dished out three assists.
Forwards Aliyah Boston and Natasha Howard also scored 17 and 18 points, while backup guard Sophie Cunningham had 13 points. By the end of the game, the Fever had a 51.9% field goal percentage, compared to the Wings' 47.9%.
Furthermore, Indiana had a 73.7% free-throw percentage, while Dallas ended with a 63.6%. The Fever also dished out 30 assists, while the Wings threw out 24. The Fever also allowed eight total turnovers compared to the Wings, who surrendered 17.
Following the Fever’s triumph, Clark shared some words about how the offense performed. “30 assists on 40 made shots is about as good as it’s going to get,” she said in an interview obtained by Moreau Sports Media.
“It shows [the] selflessness of this group, [and] just really proud of this group and how we share the ball.”
Meanwhile, Wings rookie guard Paige Bueckers led her team in scoring with 21 points. However, Dallas could bounce back from the loss in their next game on Wednesday against the Las Vegas Aces.
Meanwhile, the Fever could mount a three-game winning streak heading into the All-Star break if they defeat the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday.
