Sophie Cunningham Bracing For Backlash After Latest Confession: 'I'm About to Get a Lot of Heat'

Sophie comes clean.

Sophie Cunningham Bracing For Backlash After Latest Confession: 'I'm About to Get a Lot of Heat' originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Sophie Cunningham grabbed the attention of fans with another strong performance for the Indiana Fever on Sunday. The veteran guard followed up her season-high 16-point, 10-rebound double-double from Friday’s win against the Atlanta Dream with a 13-point effort against the Dallas Wings, to go along with five rebounds, three assists and two triples off the bench.

Thanks in part to Cunningham’s eye-catching outing, the Fever were able to blow out Paige Bueckers and the Wings, 102-83. This was Indiana’s second straight victory, which saw them improve to 11-10 on the season.

On Sunday night, Cunningham took to Instagram to make an unexpected confession. It had nothing to do with basketball, but the 6-foot-1 guard still knew that she was going to receive some backlash for her statement.

"I know I'm about to get a lot of heat for this, but I've never seen 'The Notebook,'" she confessed. "I don't know if when I was little, I thought it was depressing or sad, and I just always thought that in my mind. But I've never seen it."

Many consider “The Notebook” as one of the best romance movies of the 2000s, and it can usually be found on the list of favorites for most fans of the genre.

Cunningham, though, made it abundantly clear that she isn’t exactly a romance movie kind of girl. In her next post, the Fever vet named some of her favorite films.

"You know what I have seen, though? 'Norbit,' 'Dodgeball,' 'Waterboy,' 'Step Brothers.' That's more me," she said.

All of the movies Cunningham named were comedies, which isn’t a complete surprise considering her fun-loving nature.

To be fair, Cunningham did start a poll about whether “The Notebook” is a must-see film. Whether or not the survey results compel her to watch the classic movie, however, remains to be seen.
