The New York Knicks have had an interesting offseason thus far as they have made some notable additions to their roster.
Of course, the most notable addition for the Knicks is their new head coach Mike Brown who will replace Tom Thibodeau after New York elected to fire him after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals last season.
Brown is a two-time Coach of the Year winner and he previously coached the Sacramento Kings before they fired him in December of last season after their disappointing start.
Now Brown heads to New York where he will have a ton of pressure on him thanks to the Knicks’ run to the Conference Finals last season along with the East being weakened due to many injuries in the conference.
On Monday, Knicks backup point guard Miles McBride appeared on the Today Show where he shared his excitement for Brown’s hiring.
“We’re excited. I feel like the relationship he’s already started to build with me and my other teammates have just been amazing. Already reaching out to us. It’s just introductions, so nothing huge about basketball yet but it’s going to be exciting,” McBride said.
It is clear that not only McBride is excited for Brown to man the sidelines next season, but the many other players on the roster are as well.
Of course, McBride should have a larger role with Brown on the sidelines next season as he will be one of their top players off the bench.
Last season, the 24-year-old guard averaged a career-high 9.5 points to go along with 2.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 40.6% from the field and 36.9% from three.
With the Knicks’ core back together next season and with some notable additions to their bench, Brown has high expectations for his first season in New York as they are one of the favorites to represent the East in the NBA Finals.
