The biggest storyline of the NBA offseason so far is LeBron James and his future. Although he exercised his $52.6 million player option, the 40-year-old is preparing to start his 23rd season in the league.

As the summer continues, there’s growing speculation that the Lakers could move on from James and shift the roster toward Luka Doncic, whom they acquired in a February trade.

On Monday morning’s episode of "NBA Today," former Miami Heat veteran Udonis Haslem was asked about the future Hall of Famer. Haslem had telling comments about James' next move.

“I do know a place where he is welcomed, and he will always be welcomed. Just to put that out there.”

Haslem went on to suggest that James should consider a new home if he's serious about contending.

“He should want to put himself in a position where he can win a championship and land the plane. That is not in L.A. I don't give a [expletive] who they bring into L.A. That is not a championship roster right now. If LeBron James wants to win another title, he’s going to have to look somewhere else.”

James played in Miami from 2010 to 2014, following his first stint in Cleveland. He won two titles with the Heat, including one in 2013 alongside Haslem. In total, James has four NBA championships and was named Finals MVP each time.

The 6-foot-9 forward made history this past season when he shared the court in a regular-season game with his son, Bronny. It was the first time in league history that a father and son played in the same game.

James is a 21-time All-Star and has won All-Star Game MVP honors three times, most recently in 2018.
