There’s no doubt that Fabrizio Romano is the top dog when it comes to transfers, but that just makes other insiders all the more keen to capitalise when they get a scoop.

Florian Plettenberg is without doubt another one of the big boys, and he’s been very keen to drive the Noni Madueke to Arsenal chat over the last few weeks.

He was the first one to report that a bid from the Gunners had been accepted by Chelsea, and while Romano contradicted him, it’s all ended up in the same place anyway. Whether it was true or not that an “official” bid was in at that point, it was clearly heading that direction, and now both personal terms and the transfer fee are agreed.

Madueke to complete medical today ahead of major move

Florian Plettenberg says Noni Madueke completes his Arsenal medical today.

Plettenberg has just Tweeted out the latest detail of the deal – Madueke is in London to complete the final parts of his medical and “everything on site is going according to plan.”

He adds the crucial detail that the contract will be signed and the move announced tomorrow. We can’t see anything tripping up at this stage, so we can consider it a done deal.

Chelsea happy to let winger got for major fee

Madueke is a talent and contributed a lot to Chelsea last season. But winning the semis and the finals of the Club World Cup without him just showed a team moving on without much issue, and the £52m transfer fee we will get feels like a good return.

The endless churn of players can be frustrating, but when you get offered double what you paid for a player whose future in the first team isn’t certain, it’s hard to say no, even when it’s your rivals offering.
