The Philadelphia 76ers are trying to get the bad taste out of their mouth from last season, where it seemed like nothing could go their way on the court.
The main issue was injuries, and it was to their key players from the starting lineup to the bench. Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George barely saw the court together because of injuries, and that reflected in their record, which led them to be near the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
With that, they were able to get the No. 3 pick in the NBA Draft, where they selected V.J. Edgecombe. He is currently having a strong start to the summer league and is proving to be a good pick for the team.
Outside of the summer league, the 76ers have made a few moves in free agency, and they recently re-signed a veteran piece to the team, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
"Free agent guard Kyle Lowry has agreed to a one-year deal to return to the Philadelphia 76ers, Mark Bartelstein of PrioritySports tells ESPN. The 2019 champion is back for his 20th NBA season – and a third consecutive year with his hometown 76ers," Charania wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Lowry was key for the 76ers when he was on the court, and he has proven to be big off the floor as well because of his experience in the league. He's a 6-time All-Star and won the NBA championship in 2019 with the Toronto Raptors, so he's done about everything a player wants to accomplish in the league.
