Caitlin Clark has been pushed to make a key Angel Reese decision.
Caitlin Clark Urged to Make Big Angel Reese Decision originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The rivalry between Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky star Angel Reese is very much alive and well. With the WNBA All-Star Game coming up soon and Clark being a captain, there is an interesting storyline to watch.
Could Clark actually consider picking Reese to join her team? That could help tone down some of the drama surrounding the two.
That is exactly what one writer has suggested.
Nancy Armour of USA Today has urged Clark to pick Reese to quite the haters.
"But if Clark picks Reese for her All-Star team, it could silence some of the howling chorus of awfulness," Armour wrote. "The folks saying Reese sucks or flooding her social accounts with vitriol might pipe down if they see she has Clark’s endorsement. The folks who think they’re supporting Clark with their nastiness might think twice when Clark herself gives a public seal of approval."
She continued on, writing that Clark picking Reese could be what's best for the WNBA in general.
"No matter who Clark picks, she’s going to have a good team for the All-Star Game," she wrote. "By drafting Reese, she could have a team that’s good for the entire game and everyone in it."
So far this season, Clark has not had the second WNBA campaign she was expected to have. She has dealt with multiple injuries, playing in just nine games.
In those nine games, Clark has averaged 18.2 points, 8.9 assists, five rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game, while shooting 39% from the floor and 29.5% from 3-point range.
Reese, on the other hand, has played in 17 games this season. She has produced averages of 12.6 points, 12.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.6 steals, shooting 40.9% from the floor.
It will be interesting to see if Clark does indeed heed the advice from Armour and select Reese to join her in the All-Star Game.
