This sounds pretty painful.
Anthony Davis didn't have a spotless start to his Dallas Mavericks tenure after the shocking trade from the Los Angeles Lakers for Luka Doncic.
AD even got hurt in his very first game with Dallas.
But it turns out it was worse than we even knew.
ESPN's Shams Charania reported Tuesday that Davis underwent a procedure to repair a detached retina, a serious eye injury.

The good news reported by Charania is that Davis should be ready to go for training camp.

The 32-year old power forward will be particularly important to the Mavs considering that Kyrie Irving will miss at least the first half of the season as he recovers from a torn ACL.
Davis is entering his 14th season in the NBA.
He played nine games for Dallas after the trade, averaging 20.0 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.2 blocks per game.
Maybe he'll be ready to do even better now with his eyes in improved shape.
It's certainly a good idea to play with your retinas attached.
