Former Indiana Fever star eyes to return home.
DeWanna Bonner Report Draws Unexpected Response From WNBA Coach originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
DeWanna Bonner began the season with the Indiana Fever and is now seemingly headed to her next team.
Bonner joined the Fever in the offseason, adding to the star-studded group that already has Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell.
All three players who were returning to the Fever were recently announced as All-Stars for the 2025 season.
Bonner was looking to make the same impact, bringing a veteran presence to Indiana, but she reportedly requested a trade during the season.
After the trade request fell through, Bonner was eventually released by the Fever, leading Indiana to sign Aari McDonald.
On Monday, ESPN announced that Bonner was expected to sign with the Phoenix Mercury, joining a team she previously played for.
After the news was released, Mercury head coach Nate Tibbetts was asked about the addition of Bonner.
"Who is that?" Tibbetts said. "I have no comment on that at the moment."

DeWanna Bonner began her career with the Phoenix Mercury and played for the team from 2009 to 2019. After spending a large portion of her career with the Mercury, Bonner then played for the Connecticut Sun from 2020 to 2024.
During her time in Phoenix, Bonner helped lead the team to two WNBA titles after being drafted by the organization.
While Bonner's role with the Phoenix Mercury is still up in the air, given the coach's comments, it's clear that she's taking the necessary steps to continue her WNBA career.
During her time with the Indiana Fever, Bonner posted 7.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
