Miami Heat guard Davion Mitchell has officially signed his new contract, a two-year, $24 million deal, and in doing so, made a bold admission about the upcoming 2025-26 season.

In a post shared by Heat Culture on X, Mitchell expressed his excitement and commitment to the team, stating, “Ever since the first game everybody said you better sign back here… I’m excited to play here next two years. I love the fan base, coaching staff, everything they do here in Miami.”

Mitchell’s enthusiasm is palpable as he highlights the importance of the training camp and team activities, believing they will foster greater comfort and cohesion among the players.

“Now that we have a training camp together and do activities together, I feel we’ll be more comfortable playing with one another, we’ll just be a much better team for sure,” he said.

This admission underscores his confidence in the Heat’s potential to improve and compete at a higher level after a disappointing 37-45 season that ended in a first round playoff sweep by Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Known for his defensive prowess and nicknamed “Off-Night” for his ability to shut down opposing stars, Mitchell’s offensive contributions have also been notable, with a career-high 40% from three-point range.

His excitement about returning to Miami and his belief in the team’s future success signal a promising chapter for the Heat as they gear up for the new season.

As the 2025-26 season approaches, all eyes will be on Mitchell to see if his beliefs can translate to the Heat reemerging as contenders in the Eastern Conference.
