Warriors linked to Celtics' Derrick White as Jonathan Kuminga saga continues

The Celtics shouldn't consider moving Derrick White to the Warriors.

If the Boston Celtics move on from Derrick White, there would be a strong argument to be made that he's one of the better players on the market.

Outside of the Kevin Durant trade, one could even suggest that White would be the best player moved if it happened.

However, according to a recent report, some interesting scenarios could play out. According to CBS Sports' Brad Botkin, there are several ways this could unfold. With the Golden State Warriors looking to trade Jonathan Kuminga, it's possible they could be looking at White as a potential trade candidate.

“The Warriors are going to try to put Jonathan Kuminga into a sign and trade that brings back a serious player,” he wrote. “Derrick White makes a ton of sense, but the Celtics are reportedly going to demand an extremely aggressive package along the lines of the five first-round picks the Knicks paid for Mikal Bridges or Orlando’s four-pick package for Desmond Bane. ”

Adding Kuminga would be intriguing for the Celtics, but not at the expense of White.

White is arguably the best role player in the NBA, and despite Kuminga being very young and showing some promising signs throughout his young career, it's unfair to suggest that he'll become anything like White throughout his career.

White does things much differently than many other players around the league, and that's because he understands his role.

According to other reports, Kuminga wants to be a star elsewhere.

For the Celtics, even when Jayson Tatum is out, he doesn't really have that opportunity.
