Who is in the 2025 MLB Home Run Derby? Who could still earn an invite to the event during the 2025 MLB All-Star Game festivities? What to know now.
Half of the 8-player field for the 2025 MLB Home Run Derby on July 14 is set, with the Minnesota Twins' Byron Buxton, Washington Nationals' James Wood, Seattle Mariners' Cal Raleigh and Atlanta Braves' Ronald Acuna Jr. confirmed for the event at Truist Park in Atlanta.
Will the Arizona Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez get one of the final four bids?
Suarez is currently fourth in the league in home runs with 28, trailing Raleigh (35), the New York Yankees' Aaron Judge (33) and the Los Angeles Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani (30).
Judge and Ohtani are not expected to compete, leaving Suarez with the second-highest amount of home runs among potential participants in the event.
Suarez recently told reporters that he would love to have a chance to compete in the event, if he was asked.
“I’m not going to tell everybody that I want to do it; I would prefer they ask me for it,” Suarez said. “I’m not the guy who is going to push for it. It’s OK if I’m not participating. Being in the All-Star Game, for me, already means a lot.”
The Philadelphia Phillies' Kyle Schwarber, who is fifth in MLB with 27 home runs, has also said he won't compete in the event as has the Chicago Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong (23) and Pete Alonso (20) of the New York Mets.
Buxton has 20 home runs on the season, while Wood has 23, Acuna Jr. has nine home runs in limited action.
The Diamondbacks' Corbin Carroll has 20 home runs on the season in 74 games, but is just coming back from injury, while the Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte has 19 home runs in 63 games, making them potential other candidates for the Home Run Derby, as well as the Detroit Tigers' Riley Greene (22).
The Chicago Cubs' Seiya Suzuki has 25 home runs, sixth in the league, but is not an All-Star.
