Major League Baseball is in the dog days of August, as the summer heat rises in the 30 cities across the country. But that is not keeping fans away from heading to the stadium.
In what was the final weekend of the summer for many, with kids going back to school in many places across the country, Major League Baseball announced that attendance for the past weekend of games was the highest for an August weekend since 2015. Nearly 1.6 million fans attended games at the stadium from August 8-10.

As the pennant races heat up, with three wildcard teams from both the National League and American League, more teams appear to be in the race. Both the National League West and American League West have divisional races within a game. The National League Central has a team that has won ten straight games for the second time this season.
Aaron Judge, Cal Raleigh, Shohei Ohtani, and Kyle Schwarber are notables putting on a show at stadiums across the country. Raleigh leads all of Major League Baseball with 45 home runs, but Ohtani and Schwarber keep moving up the list, with 42 each. Judge is looking to hold off others for the top batting average in MLB, as he is hitting .336.

Both the New York teams are struggling, but meaningful games will keep fans going through the turnstiles in both the Bronx and Queens. The Yankees and Red Sox are within 1.5 games of each other, which will raise interest. Big market Chicago Cubs are in the playoff race, and have young stars that fans want to see.
Look for attendance to stay on the rise as the season moves along these final six weeks. With talk of a lock-out coming in 2027, it's a good day to be a fan of Major League Baseball, and head to the old ballpark!
