The Wolves have confirmation on Beal.
Timberwolves Among Confirmed Suitors for Bradley Beal originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Minnesota Timberwolves' quiet offseason has come as a surprise to the team, which has seen major trades orchestrated by president of basketball operations Tim Connelly.
The Wolves drew a clear line in the Kevin Durant sweepstakes and were unwilling to hemorrhage the future with Anthony Edwards for a short-term rental on the 36-year-old forward.
But as the dust has settled on the Durant front, the next Phoenix Suns star to make their departure has come under the sights of the Wolves.
According to NBA insider Jake Fischer of "The Stein Line" Substack, All-Star guard Bradley Beal is expected to be bought out of his contract -- and the Timberwolves are among confirmed suitors for him.
"Some confirmed suitors for Beal include the LA Clippers — fresh off agreeing to trade Norman Powell to Miami in a three-team deal that will bring back Utah's John Collins — as well as the Los Angeles Lakers, Milwaukee and Minnesota," Fischer wrote.
Beal's fit in Minnesota isn't quite as seamless as Durant's. Beal plays the same position as Edwards, and while the duo could surely wreak havoc on opposing defenses, there would be bottlenecks elsewhere offensively without a true point guard on the floor.
Under the terms of a buyout, Beal will likely take a low-level contract for a win-now team that could use his services in any capacity.
The Timberwolves fit the bill and could use him as a strong scoring threat off the bench after Nickeil Alexander-Walker was dealt to the Atlanta Hawks.
However, the Wolves plan has seemingly been upping minutes for Terrence Shannon Jr. and Jaylen Clark, along with a second year with Donte DiVincenzo.
In 801 career regular-season games, Beal has averaged 21.5 points, 4.3 assists, and 4.1 rebounds.
