What will the New York Yankees accomplish at the trade deadline?

The last two weeks have shown the ugly side of the 2025 New York Yankees.

This Yankees team could still come back to win the American League East and maybe even return to the World Series. But after dropping from 42-25 to 49-41, it's clear this team has a great many flaws.

Principal among those flaws? The Yankees are playing recently-named All-Star second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. out of position at third base to make room for aging veteran DJ LeMahieu.

At the trade deadline, the Yankees' top objective should be to get Chisholm back to second and find a new third baseman who can contribute offensively.

Steven Russell, an independent content creator, believes the Yankees will do just that. In a recent short video, Russell predicted that New York would acquire Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suárez at the Jul. 31 deadline.

"The Yankees getting a third baseman in Eugenio Suárez would be the perfect fit," Russell said. "One step closer to going back to the World Series this season."

Suárez, an impending free agent, is having a mammoth season while his team is puttering around .500. He's got 28 home runs, fourth in all of baseball, while leading all third baseman with an OPS of .881.

Though Suárez's defense leaves something to be desired, the net effect of getting Chisholm back to second and getting LeMahieu's glove off the field would still be a plus.

There's no guarantee Suárez is traded, but if he is, it will be a failure on the Yankees' part if he winds up anywhere but the Bronx.
