As the Tigers hoped, Gleyber Torres was back in the lineup for Monday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays. After a neck contusion forced him to leave Saturday's game early, the All-Star second baseman is cleared and ready to play. The collision at second base had everyone worried, but thankfully, the diagnosis was nothing more than a bruise.

Torres was removed as a precaution and manager A.J. Hinch gave Torres a day off on Sunday as well.

Torres himself said he felt “all good” and received the all-clear from the medical staff, and Hinch confirmed there were no lingering issues. Now, Torres is back where he belongs, starting at second base when the Tigers take on Rays Monday night.

It’s a good thing for the Tigers who are trying to finish off the first half strong. Torres has been a key part of Detroit’s lineup. He’s hitting .278 with 9 home runs, 44 RBIs, and an .810 OPS across 78 games. His performance this season earned him a spot as the starting second baseman for the American League in the 2025 MLB All-Star Game—his third All-Star selection. It’s obviously his first for the Tigers.

After a solid first half, Torres has continued to be a steady presence at the plate and in the field for Detroit.

Torres has also extended his on-base streak to 18 games before his injury scare on Saturday. With his bat back in the lineup, the Tigers will look to keep their momentum heading into the second half of the season.
