The 2025-26 season will mark the first full season in which Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler will be teammates on the Golden State Warriors. While Curry and Butler have made names for themselves on opposite teams, they have had some playoff success since becoming teammates.

The Warriors advanced to the Western Conference Semifinals with Curry and Butler. They even beat the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 1 of their second-round matchup. Unfortunately, Curry suffered an ill-timed hamstring injury that kept him out for the rest of the series, which the Timberwolves then won the next four games to eliminate the Warriors.

Before Golden State acquired Butler, their record was 25-26. By the end of the season, their record was 48-34, meaning they went 23-8 the rest of the way after trading for Butler from the Miami Heat.

Butler has only continued to embrace himself as a Warrior with the upcoming season, as he shared a slideshow of himself on his personal Instagram in Wuhan China, where he not only voiced his excitement, but also shouted out some of his teammates including Draymond Green and Buddy Hield. Curry himself responded to Butler with a three-word message.

Curry left a comment on Butler's post, where he posted a celebration emoji with "on the way" next to it, potentially signifying that a celebration was on the way for Golden State.

Butler continues to prove naysayers wrong

When it was first announced that the Warriors had traded for Butler, there was much skepticism that he could mesh with them. Butler spent his entire Heat tenure as their No. 1 option, so many doubted he could slide in as Curry's No. 2.

Butler also had a reputation for being a problem for the teams he played for, including, most recently, the Heat before the sides parted ways. That's why many doubted he and Green would get along, as the latter has a similar reputation because of his altercations with previous teammates like Kevin Durant and Jordan Poole.

However, since the trade, Butler has not been a problem for the Warriors at all and has made it clear how much he has embraced his role with the team. Their most recent postseason run may have been a completely different story had Curry never hurt himself, and Butler has made it clear he's excited for what's ahead.
