Just 90 days after winning a national championship with the Florida Gators, Will Richard made his professional debut on Sunday.
The now-Golden State Warriors guard, Richard, debuted in the 2025 NBA Summer League for the Warriors against the San Antonio Spurs. Less than an hour before the game, Golden State officially announced its acquisition of Richard in a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies.
The former Florida star was traded on draft night after being selected with the 56th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. On Sunday, Richard shined for the Warriors in his first game against NBA talent.
Golden State lost to San Antonio 90-88 on Sunday at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California. In a team-high 25 minutes, Richard scored 16 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, grabbed four rebounds and had two steals. He also went 8-for-8 from the free throw line.
His first bucket as a professional came within the first 20 seconds of tipoff, as he got a steal on the defensive end and ran the fast break for an easy layup on the other side.

Richard also showed off his clutch gene on Sunday, as he knocked down a triple with just 32 seconds left that cut the Spurs' lead to one at the time.
He tried to do it again with the game on the line in the final seconds. With the Warriors down by two, Richard put up a three for the win at the buzzer, but it ultimately clanked off the rim, as Golden State fell to 1-1 in the California Classic Summer League.
The 6-foot-4 guard from Fairburn, Georgia, was the first commit for Florida head coach Todd Golden in 2022 after playing his freshman year at Belmont. Richard totaled 1,275 points, over 200 3-pointers made and 129 steals in his three years at UF.
Now, with one professional game under his belt, in which he showed glimpses of his impressive skill set, Richard will look to continue to grow with Golden State with his championship-caliber resume.
