Egyptian League Adjusts Kickoff Times Due to Soaring August Heat

The Egyptian Clubs Association's officially announced change in match timings for the 2025 /26 Egyptian Premier League season set to kick off this Friday with the clash between Wadi Degla & Pyramids FC.

Why the change?

Due to the extreme summer heat expected across Egypt in August, the Association confirmed that kickoff times will be moved to 6:00 PM & 9:00 PM instead of the originally scheduled 5:00 PM & 8:00 PM slots.

In official statement via its Facebook page, the league body emphasized the need to protect players and fans from intense heatwave confirming that the decision was made in coordination with security authorities.

New League Format Explained

This season sees 21 club competing in the Egyptian Premier League after relegation was scrapped last season. The competition will unfold in two phases:

• Phase 1: Each team plays 21 rounds.
• Phase 2:The top 7 teams will battle for the title.Teams ranked 8th to 21st will fight to avoid relegation.The bottom 4 in the relegation group will drop to the second division.

Notably all teams will carry over their points from Phase 1 into the second stage.
