Former Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce might be known as "The Truth," but fans are convinced he lied on national television.

Pierce, who spent 19 years in the NBA, is currently a co-host on FS1's "Speak" alongside Joy Taylor and Keyshawn Johnson. Prior to receiving a prominent role on the network, he made brief appearances on "Undisputed" with Skip Bayless.

During this past Thursday's episode of "Speak," Pierce shared his thoughts on LeBron James naming Kevin Durant the "most equipped" scorer in NBA history. Let's just say his response was quite interesting.

"I was probably the best pure scorer ever in the history of the NBA," Pierce said. "I was pretty equipped when I think about it. I need to be in this conversation... I must have been one of the most equipped."

Some fans laughed at Pierce's bold claim. Others, however, were so annoyed they suggested FOX should replace him on "Speak."

"Imagine thinking in your warped mind that you were a better pure scorer than Jordan. Is the goal now to purposely say the stupidest [expletive] on sports television?" one fan asked.

"This is why you can’t take anything these retired players say serious," a second fan wrote.

"I know he says this just for clicks, but it works because I loathe him. He's not even top 50 all-time," a third fan said.

"One of the more ridiculous statements I've heard," a fourth fan declared.

"Sign. Real. Journalists. For. Sports. Shows," a social media user wrote.

Pierce averaged 19.7 points per game during his illustrious NBA career, earning All-Star honors 10 times.

While there's no question Pierce was a prolific scorer, Durant is simply a generational talent.

That being said, Pierce won't face any punishment for his bold claim. If anything, he'll help "Speak" generate clicks on social media.
