When you spend over a decade in the league, you pick up more than just stats and highlights, you learn the game inside and out. That’s exactly what 14-year NBA vet Jared Dudley did, and now he’s leveling up in his coaching career.

After a solid run with the Mavericks, Dudley’s packing his bags for Denver to join the Nuggets as an assistant coach. But before he starts this new chapter, he made sure to share some heartfelt words for the people who helped him get here and naturally, Jason Kidd was right at the top of that list.

After news broke out about his move to the Nuggets, Dudley reacted to a post on X and shared his thoughts on his next move.

He said, “Thankful For Coach Kidd and Nico for giving me the opportunity to go from a Player to front bench coach.. Excited for my next chapter with Coach Adelman and the Denver Nuggets! Let’s get it!”

Dudley spent four solid years on the Mavericks’ bench as an assistant coach, from 2021 to 2025. He really leaned into the player development side of things and saw it pay off big time when the Mavs made two trips to the Western Conference Finals and even snagged a division title in 2024.

Before that, Dudley carved out a 14-year playing career in the league, bouncing around with a bunch of teams. He suited up for the Bobcats (now Hornets), Suns, Bucks, Clippers, Wizards, Nets and wrapped things up with the Lakers. He’s seen a little bit of everything.

As for the Nuggets, they’re coming off a pretty solid season. They finished 50-32 out West and pushed the eventual champs, OKC, to seven games before bowing out in the second round.

But things weren’t exactly smooth sailing behind the scenes. Right before the playoffs, they shocked everyone by firing coach Mike Malone and general manager Calvin Booth out of nowhere. They brought in Adelman to steer the ship as interim head coach. Now, with Dudley coming in, they’re hoping for a fresh start and a bit more stability.
