The Indiana Fever are playing some of their best basketball of the season as they prepare to host the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday evening. Head coach Stephanie White has guided her team to three straight wins, including a Commissioner's Cup Championship victory over the Minnesota Lynx.

Following that, the Fever crushed the Las Vegas Aces 81-54. Indiana is now 9-8 and sits third in the Eastern Conference, playing the second of five straight games at home.

However, the team received tough news Friday afternoon. Star guard Caitlin Clark was ruled out again for Saturday with a lingering groin injury. Clark has not played since logging 31 minutes in a road game against Seattle on June 24.

According to the Clark's player page on the official WNBA site:

"Clark will miss a fifth straight game while recovering from a left groin injury. Even though the star guard went through some shooting drills during Friday's practice, it seems she's not ready to return to the hardwood yet."

In her absence, guard Aari McDonald has stepped up. McDonald rejoined the team for the June 26 game against Los Angeles and scored 14 points in that matchup.

Kelsey Mitchell continues to lead Indiana in scoring. The veteran guard is averaging 19.3 points and 3.1 assists per game. In the frontcourt, Aliyah Boston has been a reliable presence, dropping 20 points in the blowout win over Las Vegas on July 3.

Clark has appeared in nine games this season and is averaging 18.2 points across 33.3 minutes per game. Her shooting, however, has dipped. She's hitting just 39% from the field and 29.5% from beyond the arc.

The Fever continue their extended homestand, with Golden State up next on Wednesday. That game will be a rematch of the June 19 meeting when Indiana fell to the Valkyries 88-77.
