If the Philadelphia Phillies have an opportunity to move on from Nick Castellanos, it feels like something Dave Dombrowski has to do.

Castellanos is a decent player, but considering he still has $ 20 million per year on his contract through 2026 and is no longer the same player he was with the Cincinnati Reds, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Phillies cut ties with him if they have the opportunity.

According to Jim Bowden of The Athletic, multiple general managers around the league think it's possible that he could be moved before July 31.

"The Castellanos rumors just never go away, and for that reason alone, multiple GMs think there's a chance he could get moved if Philadelphia can find a better right-field option," wrote Bowden

"Castellanos, 33, is hitting .282 with 10 home runs and a 111 OPS+. He's a well-below-average outfielder and is signed through 2026 at $20 million per year, so Philadelphia would have to pay down his contract to move him."

If Castellanos were to get traded, finding the perfect package in return would be tough. A veteran big leaguer going for prospects at this stage doesn't make sense for the Phillies.

However, Castellanos only makes sense on a contending team.

Perhaps a contending team would be willing to send a few bullpen arms or something, but even then, that seems very unlikely given the circumstances here.

That'll be up to Dombrowski to figure out, but it's interesting to hear that general managers around the league think it's possible that he could be traded.
