New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe has fans upset.

The New York Mets are riding high after defeating the New York Yankees 6-5 at Citi Field on Friday night to open their Subway Series in dramatic fashion. The win came courtesy of an outstanding performance from outfielder Juan Soto and second baseman Jeff McNeil, who launched a clutch go-ahead two-run shot in the seventh and made a diving play in the ninth to seal the win.
With the win, the Mets continued their winning streak and will look to pile on the pressure by taking another victory on Saturday, while the Yankees are left searching for answers after dropping their fifth game in a row.
But frustrations among the Yankees fanbase only deepened after an unusual incident between innings on Saturday. YES Network cameras showed Aaron Judge with a visible bandage near his right eye after he was struck by an errant toss from shortstop Anthony Volpe.
According to the network (h/t Bryan Hoch), the throw indeed came from Volpe and accidentally clipped Judge—adding another bizarre twist to an already rough week for the Yankees.

Volpe, who has already faced scrutiny from fans for his inconsistency this season, found himself at the center of fresh backlash as the clip made the rounds online.
“The Yankee Twitter fans are NOT going to like this one,” one fan noted.
“No way it was because of Volpe,” another fan said.
“DOES HE DO ANYTHING [expletive] RIGHT?” another fan questioned.
“LMAOOO NOW HES INJURING HIS OWN TEAMMATES,” a fan posted.
“Volpe did it on purpose,” another fan wrote.
"The first thing Anthony Volpe hit in 3+ months was Aaron judges cheekbone 😭😭😭," another fan remarked.
