Francisco Lindor has entrenched himself in New York Mets lore.

The fact that Francisco Lindor isn't the clear No. 1 player on the New York Mets says a lot about the quality of their team. The five-time All-Star has had at least a 5.4 WAR and 26 homers in each of his last three seasons, and he had 17 homers and 46 RBI over 87 games this year heading into Saturday's bout with the New York Yankees.

However, Lindor wasn't at his best in June. The 31-year-old slashed .204/.259/.369 with four homers and 10 RBI, which was partially why the Mets fell out of first place in the NL East.

Still, Lindor's accomplishment on Saturday is a reminder of how effective he's been as a Met, via MLB.com's Anthony DiComo.

"Francisco Lindor just stole his 100th base as a Met. He's one of six players with at least 100 homers and 100 steals in their Mets careers," he reported. "The others: Darryl Strawberry, David Wright, Howard Johnson, Carlos Beltrán, and José Reyes."

Lindor stole second base after walking in the bottom of the fifth. Fellow star Juan Soto then struck out before Pete Alonso drove him in with a 382-foot homer to right center, which gave the Mets a 7-2 lead.

Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon gave up seven runs (six earned) on five hits across five innings pitched, while former Yankee Frankie Montas gave up four runs in 5.2 frames for the Mets.

The two teams will play their last matchup of the regular season on Sunday. Southpaw pitcher Max Fried will start for the Yankees, and fellow southpaw Brandon Waddell will start for the Mets.
