After decades of being called "little brother," the New York Mets are flipping the script on the New York Yankees. The Mets beat them 12-6 on Saturday after beating them 6-5 on Friday, and they now lead them by 3.5 games in the overall standings.

While the Yankees still have 27 championships compared to the Mets' two, the latter club earned offseason bragging rights by poaching star slugger Juan Soto this past winter. The 26-year-old helped Aaron Judge and the Yankees win their first pennant since 2009 last season, but he signed a record 15-year, $765 million contract with the Mets in December.

"No," the future Hall of Famer said.

He went 0-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout on Saturday, but went 2-for-4 with a solo homer on Friday.

Judge leads baseball with a .361 batting average and a 1.202 OPS. The AL MVP favorite is also second with 32 homers and fourth with 71 RBI.

Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo broke the ice with a grand slam in the bottom of the first inning on Saturday. Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. followed up with a solo homer in the top of the second before Starling Marte's RBI single in the bottom frame.

Yankees catcher Austin Wells then hit a solo homer in the third before Mets star Pete Alonso smashed a two-run homer in the fifth. Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger followed that with a two-run double in the sixth, and shortstop Anthony Volpe hit a solo homer in the seventh.

Mets star Francisco Lindor then hit an RBI single in the seventh, followed by Alonso's second homer of the day. Yankees designated hitter Ben Rice then hit a RBI double in the eighth before Soto ended the scoring with a RBI single in the bottom frame.
