Girls H.S. basketball tournament draw – Fisher Catholic earns No. 1 seed

The OHSAA is using a new MaxPreps RPI system to determine seeding for the girls' basketball tournament. See how it works and key matchups.

COLUMBUS — Regardless of your team’s record, tournament time is always exciting because it gives teams new life and something to play for. The goal for every team is to reach the state tournament.

The suspense of the girls’ high school basketball tournament draw comes with a new twist this season as the Ohio High School Athletic Association is using the MaxPreps Ratings Percentage to determine seeding for the statewide sectional tournament draws, which were held Feb. 8 for the Central District.

Granville beats host Bloom-Carroll 54-30 on Dec. 18, 2025.

The RPI formula was recommended by the OHSBCA, adopted by the OHSAA, and is calculated using scores entered into MaxPreps. The formula is comprised of a 40 percent winning percentage, 35 percent opponent’s winning percentage, and 25 percent opponent's winning percentage.

Fisher Catholic (17-2) drew the No. 1 seed in Division VII.

The Division I and II draw will be held on Feb. 15.
