Charles Bennett pulled off the stunning upset at BKFC KnuckleMania 6
“Felony” Charles Bennett still has gas left in the tank after all.
Bennett entered BKFC KnuckleMania 6 on Saturday as a massive underdog to Pat Sullivan. But the veteran of over 70 fights defied the odds as he delivered a massive upset win with a second-round knockout at the promotion’s tentpole annual event.
The 46-year-old—sporting a 1-26 record in his past 27 combat sports appearances—got things started by showing some excellent head movement, and came through with a nasty, counter right hand to drop Sullivan in the first round.
After Bennett likely won a 10-8 first round, Sullivan tried to get himself back into the fight, throwing some heavy hands at the longtime veteran, even landing a nice shot that had Bennett stumbling across the squared circle as he was off-balance.
Bennett was just waiting for his moment as he dropped Sullivan for the second time in Round 2 and then sent his opponent through the ropes. But this was the last shot he needed to land as Sullivan couldn’t make it ahead of the 10-count and the referee stopped the fight.
Watch the finish in the slider below.
It was the first win in four attempts for Bennett in the BKFC ring, while Sullivan drops to 1-2 in the promotion.
