The first half of the campaign was a difficult one for Manchester United.
Poor results led to Ruben Amorim’s dismissal at the beginning of January, but there has been a significant improvement since Michael Carrick returned to the club as head coach until the end of the season.
United are looking much more solid under Carrick. They’ve won three straight games, which has given their top-four hopes a real boost.
Patrick Dorgu named in Antoine Semenyo’s Team of the Season
With 14 games still to play, opinions are already forming about the Premier League team of the season.
Man City’s Antoine Semenyo shared his picks with Sky Sports at an Adidas event, and only one United player made the cut.
Many would guess it’s Bruno Fernandes, but Semenyo left out the Portuguese midfielder from his selections.
Instead, he picked Dorgu at left-back, even though some of Dorgu’s best performances have come higher up the pitch against sides like Newcastle, Man City and Arsenal.
Carrick has said he believes Dorgu will come back stronger from injury. Every United fan is hoping to see him back on the pitch soon.
Dorgu was used as a wing-back under Amorim, but with Carrick now in charge and Tino Livramento playing left-back recently, there are signs that a permanent switch to a more attacking role could suit him better. The question now is whether he’ll settle into that role long-term or return to defence.
Patrick Dorgu’s numbers from this season
Dorgu has made 24 appearances in total for United this season, including 22 in the Premier League.
The Dane has started 14 league matches but has missed the last two through injury.
When it comes to goal contributions, Dorgu has an impressive tally of six, with three goals and three assists to his name.
There’s a real feeling that he could hit another level once he gets back on the pitch. There is still a lot more to come from him this season if he can get healthy.
