Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …

What the Sean Mannion hire as Eagles offensive coordinator says about Nick Sirianni’s future – Inquirer
Locals may view Hurts through the prism of his excellence in the biggest games, but consensus from the rest of the league isn’t as generous. Of course, many of them don’t have his ring or Super Bowl MVP. Mannion will be charged with elevating Hurts on a more consistent basis. He has been credited with helping Packers starter Jordan Love and backup Malik Willis advance and with helping them become better pocket passers. It should help that Mannion played the position and that he’s done it recently. But there could be the question of whether he has enough gravitas for the stoic old soul in Hurts. Sirianni might have suggested two weeks ago that he would include the quarterback in the coordinator search, but his involvement was minimal at best, sources close to the situation said.

10 quick thoughts on new Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion – BGN
This Signals a Big Potential Schematic Pivot. Everything in Mannion’s background points to a motion-based, structure-driven offense built around disguise and sequencing rather than static alignments and isolation. Expect more condensed formations, more shifts, more pre-snap tells, and more coordinated sequencing between run and pass. This should look meaningfully different from the stagnant, predictable structure the offense drifted into last season. I expect those hitch numbers to come way down … Green Bay’s system attacks linebackers with crossers, overs, glance routes, and play-action seams. We drifted toward boundary and sideline isolation throws last year. I expect the middle of the field to be a more targeted area. You’ll see concept families instead of isolated calls. The same formation will produce multiple outcomes across a game. That sequencing element, where you show one look early and target defensive adjustment later, is a defining trait of this tree and something Philly badly lacked last season.

Why Eagles hired Sean Mannion, play-calling question, staff changes: 8 Thoughts – The Athletic
Finally, what does this mean for the future? I don’t believe Mannion’s age and inexperience suggest he has more staying power. In fact, I’d think it’s the opposite: If the Eagles have success, Mannion could earn interviews for head coaching jobs next year. He might not have the hype of candidates considered next in line, but NFL owners are often intrigued by young offensive minds. I’m not saying Mannion will be one and done, but I think the Eagles hired a rising coach near the ground floor. As I wrote multiple times the past few weeks, the Eagles should not be focused on staying power. It’s the nature of the offensive coordinator role that those jobs turn over often.
And that also leads to the question of what happens if it doesn’t work. In that case, my guess is the Eagles might be searching for more than an offensive coordinator next year. Such is life in the NFL. This is a high-variance hire, and the Eagles are taking a big swing.

Why this New Jersey gym is known as the ‘most dangerous gym in America’ – ESPN
The gym’s intensity reached an even wider audience when Philadelphia Eagles star A.J. Brown walked through its doors in May. According to Haddy Abdel, Unc’s workout partner, the wide receiver initially commented on a TikTok expressing interest in training at the gym. When the message went unnoticed, Brown followed up with a direct message on Instagram to set up a session. Brown arrived at Diamond Gym and was immediately put through a punishing shoulder and dead-lift workout alongside Unc and Abdel. He didn’t say a word on camera, but his expression did all the talking. With 40-pound chains hanging from each side of the bar, Brown strained through a shoulder press until a child’s voice cut through the noise. “Let’s go A.J.!” Brown finished the rep, then stepped to a hex bar loaded with nearly 600 pounds as the gym erupted. Looking into the mirror, he asked the child to stand in front of him as he dead-lifted the weight. Later, Brown explained that he needed the reminder. “I had to put my hoodie on, I had to go to a place, I had to go to my childhood; had to think about some s— I went through,” Brown said, reflecting on his experience at the gym. “I got everything I ever wanted in life, bro, I had to go back down to that childhood, me living in that trailer, starving, bro.”

12 potential Eagles draft targets to watch during the Senior Bowl: Offense edition – PhillyVoice
KC Concepcion, WR, Texas A&M: Concepcion is a smaller receiver with top-end speed, and waterbug-like quickness in short areas. He is dangerous in the open field after the catch. In 2025, he had 61 catches for 919 yards (15.5 YPC), and an SEC-leading 9 TDs. He was also the Aggies’ primary punt returner, and he housed two punts this past season. The Eagles desired a player like Concepcion when they drafted Ainias Smith in 2024, but obviously Concepcion is a far better prospect.

Ravens expected to hire Bears OC Declan Doyle for same job in Baltimore – Baltimore Beatdown
Doyle was a candidate for other offensive coordinator openings as well, including the Philadelphia Eagles’ job which he just recently pulled out of consideration for. He emerged as a prime candidate for the Ravens in recent days, overtaking other potential options like Davis Webb and Kliff Kingsbury. The connections to Johnson and Payton, two of the NFL’s top offensive minds, are obviously part of Doyle’s appeal. His lack of experience as a play-caller is by far the biggest question mark surrounding his potential in Baltimore, and there is no real way to assuage that concern until the 2026 season. Until then, Doyle will be focused on retooling Baltimore’s offense after their disappointing performance in 2025.

Broncos interviewed Commanders assistant head coach/pass game coordinator Brian Johnson for their offensive coordinator position – Mile High Report
The team interviewed Buffalo Bills quarterbacks coach Ronald Curry for their offensive coordinator position on Thursday, and today, they interviewed Brian Johnson today. Johnson started out his coaching career in college, where he had stints with Utah, Mississippi State, Houston, and Florida as offensive coordinator and/or a quarterbacks coach. His first NFL coaching job came in 2021 when he was named the Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterbacks coach. Johnson held that role through the 2022 season, and in 2023, he was named the Eagles’ offensive coordinator. Johnson was fired a year later by the Eagles and was then hired by the Washington Commanders in 2024 as their assistant head coach/offensive pass game coordinator.

Why Cowboys will change their ‘bargin bin’ approach to free agency in 2026 – Blogging The Boys
For little over a decade now the Dallas Cowboys have been pretty consistent about how they choose to approach free agency year after year. They’ve chosen to shop from the “bargain bin” for about 11 years now and haven’t really paid an outside free agent over $6 million annually in that timeframe. This approach to free agency hasn’t netted any positive results and it’s definitely time for a big shift. As luck would have it, it looks like 2026 will be the year Jerry Jones and Company are finally willing to make some big changes in order to become more productive as an organization. They appear to have already allowed Brian Schottenheimer to run more of the show without their interference as evidenced by the hiring of 34-year-old, first-time defensive coordinator Christian Parker. The hiring of Christian Parker already bucks the trend of the Cowboys going with a more tried-and-true coordinator with a proven track record, which signals a big shift in mentality and that other changes could be coming this year. The next big change we expect coming in Dallas is how they approach free agency and the players they choose to target because of it.

Washington Commanders move on from three more coaches – Hogs Haven
More changes are on the way for the Washington Commanders coaching staff. They changed offensive and defensive coordinators and now we’re seeing moves to update the assistants from last season. DBs coach/defensive pass game coordinator Jason Simmons joined the Steelers, and assistant head coach/offensive pass game coordinator Brian Johnson just interviewed with the Denver Broncos. Aaron Wilson is reporting that the Commanders have let go of three more members of the coaching staff. Assistant defensive line coach Sharrif Floyd, assistant LBs coach/pass rush specialist Ryan Kerrigan, and player development coach Pete Ohnegian are out, and more changes will likely happen before OC David Blough and DC Daronte Jones finalize their staffs. Floyd and Ohnegian followed Dan Quinn to Washington from Dallas and will now look for other opportunities. Kerrigan is a former Redskins player and holds the sack record for the franchise. He was originally hired by Ron Rivera as an assistant defensive line coach in 2022, and was retained by Quinn in his current role.

2026 NFL Draft burning questions: QBs in class to know beyond Fernando Mendoza? Deepest position? – NFL.com
5) Is Kenyon Sadiq the next instant-impact tight end? With more teams using heavy personnel packages with multiple tight ends on the field, evaluators are salivating over Sadiq’s potential as a playmaking specialist on the perimeter. The Oregon standout dazzles as a flex tight end with explosive athletic traits that make him nearly impossible to defend between the hashes. Though his pass-catching skills make it easy to envision him playing as a jumbo slot receiver in spread sets, Sadiq’s strength and blocking prowess could enable him to thrive as a traditional “Y” in some systems. Given his versatility and big play potential, the 6-foot-3, 245-pounder is a unique weapon who should carry a top-15 grade on most draft boards.

Drake Maye injury: Patriots QB expects to be ready for Super Bowl 2026 – SB Nation
The New England Patriots shocked the football world by booking a spot in Super Bowl LX against the Seattle Seahawks, and the development of second-year quarterback Drake Maye is a huge reason for their success this year. But heading into Super Bowl LX, there is some concern about the health of his right shoulder. Under league rules, both the Seahawks and the Patriots were required to list a projected injury report on Wednesday, ahead of each team’s first practices which are scheduled for Thursday. Maye appeared on New England’s projected injury report as “limited” with a right shoulder injury. Following New England’s win in the AFC Championship Game, Maye acknowledged some “bumps and bruises,” with many pointing to a hard tackle on a run in the third quarter from Denver Broncos safety Talanoa Hufanga.
