DeMarcus Lawrence made a Super Bowl-winning adjustment on the most pivotal play of the NFC Championship Game.
It’s Friday! The Seattle Seahawks are prepping for the Super Bowl, but they might not have gotten there if DeMarcus Lawrence didn’t help out Julian Love on the game-deciding 4th down stop of Matthew Stafford in the NFC Championship Game. Sean McVay called the coverage a “fortuitous bust,” while Mike Macdonald was going, “Where’s the end?” as the play was unfolding. Now we get to read and hear from Lawrence himself and what he saw that made him ad-lib a pass rush into covering Kyren Williams out in the flat.
Before we get into the links round-up, I have to address something that occurred on this site yesterday:
Thursday’s Pre-Snap Reads contained a profane political message about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from staff writer and regular links curator Terrance Robinson. The statement, which was in response to recent news that ICE will be present at the Super Bowl, was published without my permission. Given Field Gulls’ longstanding policy of “No politics” unless it’s a story in which reporting on politics is unavoidable, it would be hypocritical of us to violate that rule. While the staff is free to express their political and social beliefs on their personal accounts, that does not mean it should extend to Field Gulls content. By the time this was discovered, it’d been hours after publish so there was little point in closing the comments or taking the statement down. All moderation was handled by the centralized SB Nation teams, which already oversee comments throughout the network, Field Gulls included.
Appropriate measures have been taken to make sure this never happens again. Terrance has both sincerely apologized and acknowledged that no matter how strongly he feels about ICE, what he did was neither professional nor appropriate and not representative of Field Gulls’ editorial practices. Lastly, I apologize to Field Gulls readers for this mishap and lack of strong oversight. You’re here to read and talk about Seahawks football, and we’re here to provide the best coverage possible.
Note from management: Any political conversation in today’s Pre-Snap Reads comments will be removed.
Now, let’s get to the Links to wrap up the week.

10 big plays that defined the Seahawks season-long run to the Super Bowl – Tacoma News Tribune
The Seahawks have run 1,132 plays on offense this season. They have defended 1,183 snaps. Throw in 139 punts, 141 kick-off returns and 84 field-goal attempts, and you’ve got a total of more than 2,500 football plays spread across 19 total games. Only an obsessed lunatic or abject moron would choose to sift through all of those in the belief that they could determine which were most important to Seattle reaching its fourth Super Bowl.

2026 Senior Bowl practise notes (day two) — an alpha emerges – Seahawks Draft Blog
It’s really quite simple, I think, when it comes to Seattle’s off-season. Now that we know they’ll pick 31st or 32nd overall, they have to scour the trade market to start with. If no attractive deal emerges and they end up keeping their top pick, they should obviously take whoever grades highest on their board.
