Olympic champion and skiing superstar Lindsey Vonn had a tough day during her recent race. The 41-year-old took a serious hit Friday when she crashed and hurt her knee during a race in Switzerland, which cast doubt over her pursuit of another Olympic medal.

The incident happened in the downhill event at Crans-Montana, the last World Cup stop before next month’s Winter Olympics. Vonn was the third skier to go down in the race. She lost control after landing a jump and slid off course into the safety netting along the side of the hill. She was airlifted after the crash.

Though she managed to get back up and carefully ski across the finish line on her own, she was visibly favoring her left knee. Medical crews later transported her by helicopter, and officials ultimately stopped the race following the series of crashes.

After the incident, Vonn shared her message on Instagram. “I crashed today in the Downhill race in Switzerland and injured my left knee,” Vonn said. “I am discussing the situation with my doctors and team and will continue to undergo further exams. This is a very difficult outcome one week before the Olympics… but if there’s one thing I know how to do, it’s a comeback.”

She also added, “My Olympic dream is not over. Thank you for all of the love and support. I will give more information when I have it. Thank you to all the medical staff who helped me today. I am grateful for all the incredible help I received. Sending my best to Marte, who also had a major crash and injury today. It’s not over until it’s over.”

Now the big question is whether she will be healthy enough to compete in the upcoming Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, Italy, and keep her comeback story alive on the sport’s biggest stage.
