The Oregon Ducks landed a transfer from former Colorado Buffaloes RB Simeon Price, so heres what fans should know about him.
Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks dipped into the transfer portal for what is likely to be the last time during this 2026 cycle, picking up a veteran running back to add to the roster.
On Thursday, former Colorado Buffaloes RB Simeon Price announced that he would be joining the Ducks, coming to Eugene for his final year of eligibility and working to get the Ducks back to the College Football Playoff. Price is coming off of a year in 2025 where he only played in four games with the Buffs, but rushed for 143 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Price will now join a deep but young group of RBs in Eugene that will be among the most talented in the nation this year. Fans may not have thought that Oregon needed to add any players to this position with the abundance of talent already, but once you learn a bit more about Price, it makes sense for him to end up with the Ducks.
Here's what you need to know about this transfer addition.
Price is Entering Sixth Year of Football
In what has become a bit more heard of over the last decade in college football, Price will be entering his sixth year of eligibility. After redshirting in his freshman year, Price was also granted a medical hardship for the 2025 season after playing only four games with the Colorado Buffaloes. The nature of Price's injury is undisclosed.
Oregon Will Be Price's Fourth Team
Another thing that has become a bit more common in today's era of college football: Price will be playing for his fourth team now that he is a member of the Oregon Ducks. He started his career with the Mississippi State Bulldogs, playing there for three seasons. He then transferred to Coastal Carolina for a year before moving on to Colorado for a year. He will now spend his final year of eligibility with the Ducks.
Price Will Bring Great Experience to Eugene
The Ducks are extremely talented in the RB room going into 2026, but they are also really young.
Jordon Davison has played in 14 games. Dierre Hill Jr. has played in 15 games. Da'Jaun Riggs has played in seven games. Tradarian Ball and Brandon Smith are incoming freshmen. That's the extent of Oregon's RB room.
In comparison, Price has played in 38 career games. While he doesn't have a ton of production, he has experience, and he can likely be a very valuable pass-blocker, which is something that this room lacks now that guys like Noah Whittington and Jayden Limar are gone.
His 2025 Was Set Up to Be Good
Before getting injured and missing the bulk of the 2025 season, Price was off to a hot start with the Buffs. In his first four games of the year, Price rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns. Who knows how the season would have played out if he were to stay healthy, but it looked like Price was starting to play some of the best ball of his career.
The 2021 Recruiting Class
Going through Price's recruiting profile, it was a bit comical to see that he was a 3-star member of the 2021 class. For reference: some headlining members of Oregon's 2021 class? Troy Franklin, Terrance Ferguson, Seven McGee, Byron Cardwell, Ty Thompson, and Jeffrey Bassa.
That was a long time ago.
